Before you LAUNCH THE MODEL, read the articles that explain How to Use the Model

Three Scales
The Water Balance Model has been integrated with the QUALHYMO hydrologic engine so that rainwater runoff volume reduction strategies can be assessed at three scales: site, development and watershed. Before you Launch the Model, learn more About the Model so that you will understand the guiding philosophy in British Columbia for greening the built environment and protecting stream health.
How to Use the Model
The dropdown titled How to Use the Model comprises a set of six linked articles that elaborate on what the user needs to know to understand the basic functionality of the Water Balance Model powered by QUALHYMO. Users are advised to read these articles as a prelude to applying the model. The articles elaborate on project types, model capabilities, the analytic structure, and Tiered Access Protocol.

Getting Started
As part of a focus group process, the Inter-Governmental Partnership prepared a Users Checklist for Getting Started. This checklist is structured in three parts:
- Information you need to describe your project for the Water Balance Model.
- Minimum project-specific data to get started.
- Two basic classes of measures for rainwater runoff volume reduction.
Before applying the model, users must first understand the general concepts of how the model works. To help users develop this basic understanding, a Data Flow Chart for the Model Process has also been prepared.
